It was eventually picked up by Wizards of the Coast (known for producing Magic: The Gathering ) and revealed to American audiences as the Pokmon Trading Card Game in January 1999

Keep in mind Rule 13 from the Commander rules: Abilities which refer to other cards owned outside the game (Wishes, Spawnsire, Research, Ring of Maruf) do not function in Commander without prior agreement on their scope from the playgroup
