I knew when I did the acid over the aluminum leaf it would eat away some of the metal so I painted it the background black and it comes through in spots reminiscent of an antique mirror

It is similar to what I have hanging in my own bedroom except it's the Colorado Autumn map

Raised gold metal is used on the horizon line as well as the Zia sun to embellish each reproduction

It was one  of the first two that I painted intending on having it professionally photographed for reproductions

However, the mountain itself is a 10 step process that is entirely hand crafted. Because of this, the mountain has lots of depth and texture from plaster, a warm metallic glow from silver leaf and multiple layers of antiquing stain. I came up with this option that looks and feels very much like the original, but is priced quite a bit
