It's made from solid metal to give a strong stability so that it won't wobble when your painting. The top half of the Easel can be detached for table top use and comes complete with a working shelf and a place to store your Bob Ross bucket which is perfect for cleaning brushes. There is some self assembly once shipped but nothing particularly difficult as no tools
